Emmerdale lines up terrifying plunge for Cain in Kyle and Graham story

Emmerdale‘s Cain Dingle is left fighting for his life next week, when a camping trip ends in disaster. His attempt to bond with troubled son Kyle Winchester on an outdoor adventure takes a terrible turn when father and son clash – leading Cain to fall down a hill, where his leg becomes trapped…

“This was meant to be a fun way for the boys to reconnect, not for Cain to be left for dead under a fallen tree,” explains our Emmerdale insider.

“Since Cain’s cancer diagnosis, his relationship with Kyle has seriously suffered. They’ve struggled with all the emotional upheaval, so spending time together surrounded by nature sounds like a good idea.

Not only is Cain facing his own health battle, he’s also upset that the Dingles’ beloved family dog Monty has cancer. Sadly, it’s not looking good for the pooch, but Cain is clinging to hope and wonders if radiotherapy could do for a dog what it can do for humans.

Despite Paddy Dingle’s prognosis that Monty is too poorly for treatment, Cain refuses to accept this and decides to seek a second opinion from another vet.

Increasingly fixated on the dog’s declining condition, Cain puts thoughts of his own recovery aside and becomes emotionally distant from Kyle and Moira.

When further medical investigation confirms Monty’s tumours are inoperable, Cain crumbles. He’s too focused on the family dog’s plight to notice Kyle is having a hard time at cadets – until it’s pointed out to him…

“As far as Moira’s concerned, Cain needs to sort out his priorities,” continues our spy. “Her husband is pushing everyone away, and Kyle feels really left out.

“Eventually, Cain suggests he takes Kyle camping, but with the ulterior motive of not wanting to be alone with Moira as he knows she’ll keep pecking his head about his fears for the future. When Kyle then invites someone else along to their trip, Cain is fuming…”

Graham Foster has become a mentor to lost soul Kyle since encouraging him to join the Army cadets. When Kyle asks his dad if Graham can tag along on their excursion, Cain seethes with resentment that his son’s rival role model is getting in on their quality time.

The trio pack their tent and lace up the walking boots, but the atmosphere between them is horribly tense. Threatened by Kyle and Graham’s closeness, and knowing deep down he’s not been there for his boy of late, Cain soon snaps at Graham – leading Kyle to flare up at his father for being so mardy.

Cranky Cain storms off, leaving Graham and Kyle to carry on without him. Disaster then strikes, putting Cain in a precarious situation…

“Just as it’s getting dark, Cain falls down a hillside and traps his leg under a log,” confirms our insider. “He can’t move, the night is drawing in, and nobody has a clue where he is!”

Will someone come to injured Cain’s aid before something terrible happens?
