Emmerdale’s Cain rocked by devastating news after scary cliffhanger
Emmerdale‘s Cain Dingle was rocked by some devastating news tonight, following yesterday’s scary cliffhanger. Though he was saved by his beloved dog Monty, the resident hard man feels powerless that he can’t return the favour.
The episode picked up from the events of last night, with Cain still trapped in the woods after storming off from the camping trip. Cain’s groans of agony rang out through the trees, but no one was around to hear him.
While alone, Cain used the opportunity to connect with his son and the pair were able to express their true feelings. Cain was heartbroken when Kyle said he felt like a disappointment.
“I’m not like you, though, am I? I can’t fight or stick up for myself, and people aren’t scared of me,” he shared. “You’re Cain Dingle. Nothing scares you. Why would you want a son like me?”
Realising that this was why Kyle had been acting up lately, Cain assured him that kicking off isn’t always the right answer. He then uncovered Kyle’s fear of losing both his parents, when the latter pointed out that he isn’t Moira’s biological son.
When they returned home, Cain explained what happened in the woods to his wife, and shared his emotional chat with Kyle. He said he felt like he’d let his family down by being caught up in Monty’s cancer diagnosis.
Cain then asked Moira to adopt Kyle “officially” in case anything happened to him, and she gladly agreed. But his relief was short-lived as Graham burst in, telling them Monty had collapsed.
Later, Rhona checked over the dog and instructed plenty of love and rest, leaving Cain feeling guilty that he had taken him on the trip. The vet was shocked when Cain outwardly asked her how long Monty had left to live.
“Looking at him now, it’s… it might be weeks. I’m so sorry,” she told the devastated couple.
How will Cain deal with this tragic development?
