Emmerdale star Olivia Bromley has spoken exclusively about her character Dawn Fletcher’s dramatic wedding day, ahead of a huge week of episodes for the soap.
Dawn is set to marry her fiancé Joe, but she is secretly planning a great escape with Billy and the kids, with the help of vengeful Caleb. But will they get away, or will Joe discover the truth?
It’s been a very big 12 months for Dawn, and as a result Olivia Bromley is nominated for Best Actress at the Inside Soap Awards 2026 for her performances throughout the year.

We got to chat to Olivia about what’s to come while she took part in an Inside Soap photoshoot celebrating Emmerdale’s nominations. You can see all the stunning pictures in this week’s issue of the magazine, which is out now.

Hi, Olivia! How does it feel to be up for Best Actress at the awards this year?
“To be nominated for Best Actress is such an amazing thing, and such a lovely privilege. I’m just really, really pleased and excited.”
What has it been like playing out this almost love triangle for Dawn with Joe and Billy?
“Oh, well, the endless love triangle… it’s been fun, actually. I think there’s a lot of nuance to the story. Obviously Dawn and Billy have been together for years and years, and then Joe Tate’s come in and caused chaos, as he does, and caused Dawn’s life to completely upend. But it’s been really interesting for me to play those dynamics.
“Why does she go back to Joe, despite everything that he’s done? Why is she able to let go of this stable, loving relationship that has been built over years and years? Even me as an actor, I’ve worked with Jay [Kontzle, who plays Billy] for years, so it’s been really interesting. And also, the three of us have had loads of fun.”
What can you tease about how this wedding week will unfold for Dawn?
“It’s gonna be a crazy week for her! It’s not going to be a smooth-sailing wedding, it never is. Her first wedding was a disaster, she was kidnapped and hung over a viaduct – and this wedding is potentially even worse!”

Did you like Dawn’s wedding dress this time around?
“Well, I mean we were limited, because in the story Dawn is seven months pregnant. And also, I’m not giving too much away, but there’s a lot of action that happens. So this had to be a very practical wedding dress situation, but it was lovely.”
Where do you think Dawn’s heart truly lies, with Joe or with Billy?
“I think, despite what everybody is telling her, despite what I would advise her, despite what the audience are screaming out for, she just wants to go back to Joe. She can’t help it!”
Why should fans vote for all things Emmerdale at the Inside Soap Awards this year?
“I think it’s been a really exciting year for Emmerdale. We’ve got some very exciting stuff coming up towards the end of this year. It’s just the best soap. I’m biased, but there we go!”
