Days of Our Lives Bombshell: The Only Way to Save Lexie & Waiting for a Third Resurrection!

Salem has never been short on impossible miracles, shocking betrayals, or characters who simply refuse to stay dead.

But the latest twist surrounding Lexie Carver may be one of the darkest resurrection stories yet. What was supposed to be a beautiful second chance for Abe Carver and Theo Carver has turned into a disturbing experiment, and EJ DiMera may have crossed a line that even Stefano DiMera would recognize as dangerous.

Days of Our Lives Thursday Recap: Lexie Is *Weeks* Away from Dying

Lexie’s return was supposed to give her family something they had lost forever. Instead, her condition has deteriorated, leaving everyone wondering whether bringing her back was actually a blessing or the beginning of an even greater tragedy. With Dr. Rolf’s latest scientific breakthrough failing spectacularly, EJ is now facing a terrifying reality: the woman he fought so hard to restore may not be able to survive the consequences.

And that raises the biggest question of all. If Lexie is frozen away in a secret hospital laboratory, is this really the end of her story—or is EJ already searching for a way to resurrect her for a third time?

The entire situation has an unmistakable Stefano DiMera feel to it. Stefano built a reputation for treating death as something that could be manipulated, delayed, or even reversed. People were frozen, identities were changed, deaths were faked, and human beings were treated like pieces in an elaborate game. Now EJ appears to be following that same dangerous philosophy, but with something even more personal driving him.

EJ is not simply trying to prove that science can defeat death. He seems determined to prove that he can be the person who accomplishes the impossible.

That obsession becomes even more disturbing when you consider what happened after Lexie returned. Instead of allowing Abe and Theo to enjoy their miracle, EJ kept Lexie’s worsening condition hidden. Her agonizing headaches and sudden collapses became increasingly difficult to ignore, yet Abe and Theo were left in the dark. EJ watched the woman he had helped bring back deteriorate while desperately searching for another solution.

The failure of Dr. Rolf’s Versavic serum only made the situation worse. The experiment collapsed, and even the laboratory animal did not survive. At that point, a reasonable person might have accepted that the procedure had failed. But EJ is not ready to surrender.

His desperation appears to be turning into something far more dangerous.

EJ’s guilt is also becoming impossible to separate from his ambition. He wanted Lexie back, but now he has to live with the consequences of that decision. Every headache, every collapse, and every moment of suffering reminds him that his miracle may have created another nightmare.

That is why Abe’s fury feels inevitable.

When Abe discovers the truth, there is no way he can simply forgive EJ for what happened. To Abe, Lexie is not an experiment, a scientific achievement, or proof that death can be conquered. She is the love of his life and the mother of his son. Learning that EJ secretly manipulated her return and then hid her condition could destroy whatever trust remained between them.

So when Abe finally lashes out and forces EJ away from Lexie, it becomes more than an argument. It is a father protecting his family from someone who has become dangerously obsessed with controlling their fate.

And then comes the most heartbreaking consequence: Lexie cannot receive the normal farewell her family deserves.

How can Abe and Theo hold a traditional funeral when Lexie’s body is still hidden beneath the hospital? Instead, they may be forced into an almost surreal memorial service, mourning a woman whose fate remains hidden from them. While Abe and Theo stand together remembering Lexie, her body could be lying in a cryogenic chamber only floors away.

The emotional contrast is devastating.

Abe believes he is saying goodbye. Theo believes he has lost his mother once again. Meanwhile, EJ still refuses to accept that Lexie is truly gone.

That could become the foundation for the next major Salem bombshell.

Paulina Price is also caught in the middle of this emotional disaster. She had previously stepped aside because she believed Abe deserved the opportunity to reconnect with his first true love. But now Lexie’s return has created an entirely different situation. Paulina may find herself once again supporting Abe while dealing with her own overwhelming family crisis.

Her daughter Chanel is facing serious medical challenges, including breast cancer and a high-risk pregnancy, while Paulina is also struggling with Johnny DiMera over Chanel’s treatment. There is only so much emotional weight one person can carry.

Yet Paulina may become Abe’s greatest source of strength.

If Lexie is presumed lost again, Abe will need someone who understands his pain. Paulina could become that person without intentionally trying to replace Lexie. Their relationship could slowly shift as Abe tries to survive another devastating loss, creating an emotional complication that nobody in Salem is prepared for.

Meanwhile, Theo Carver could be heading toward his own dangerous emotional spiral.

Theo already knew about the failed medical treatment, which means he has been carrying the burden of knowing that something was terribly wrong with his mother. Losing Lexie again could reopen every wound he thought he had finally healed.

And that is where Stephanie Johnson could enter the picture.

Days of our Lives Spoilers May 11: Lexie Crashes the Reading of Stefano's Will

Stephanie is already struggling after the trauma surrounding her kidnapping by Owen Kent. Her mental and emotional state remains fragile, especially after the chaotic shooting involving Joy Wesley inside Alex Kiriakis’ apartment. Joy has been using the incident against Stephanie, creating even more pressure and isolation.

Stephanie is already drowning in guilt, fear, and confusion.

Theo is facing grief and helplessness.

Put those two people together, and Salem could be looking at a relationship born from pain rather than stability.

A possible Theo and Stephanie connection would be incredibly complicated. They could find comfort in each other because both understand what it feels like to be emotionally overwhelmed. Theo may need someone who listens without judgment, while Stephanie may desperately need a reason to feel useful again.

But that does not mean the relationship would be healthy.

Their emotional wounds could actually make the situation more volatile. Instead of helping each other heal, they could accidentally become dependent on each other, creating another complicated chapter in both of their lives.

And while the Carver family struggles emotionally, EJ has another battle happening behind the scenes.

The fight over University Hospital could become inseparable from the secret surrounding Lexie.

Gwen Rizczech wants greater control of the hospital, but EJ appears to have his own reasons for protecting the facility. A hidden basement laboratory, secret cryogenic equipment, and the involvement of Dr. Rolf turn the hospital into the perfect setting for a massive cover-up.

EJ cannot allow the hospital board to discover what he has done.

That means more manipulation, more secrets, and potentially more enemies.

Chad DiMera, Kristen DiMera, Sarah Horton, and others could all become entangled in the fallout as EJ desperately tries to keep his resurrection project alive. The involvement of Stefano’s old associate Rita only makes the entire operation feel even more sinister.

The deeper EJ gets into this conspiracy, the harder it becomes for him to walk away.

And that brings us back to Lexie.

Could Dr. Rolf develop another serum?

Could the frozen Lexie eventually be thawed and treated?

Could a third resurrection actually be possible?

Those questions are now hanging over Salem, and EJ may be willing to do almost anything to find the answer.

The terrifying part is that even if the next experiment succeeds, there is no guarantee that Lexie will return exactly as she was. Every attempt to defeat death seems to come with a price, and EJ may soon discover that saving Lexie requires something far more dangerous than another dose of Dr. Rolf’s serum.

Perhaps the only way to save Lexie is for EJ to finally accept that he cannot control everything.

But accepting that would mean admitting defeat—and EJ DiMera has never been particularly good at that.

Days of our Lives Recap July 21: Gabi Drops a Bomb on the Kiriakis Brothers

For now, Lexie remains caught between life and death, Abe is facing another devastating loss, Theo is spiraling under the weight of grief, Paulina is being pulled in multiple directions, and Stephanie is struggling to survive her own emotional nightmare.

Meanwhile, EJ continues to guard his darkest secret beneath University Hospital.

The question is no longer whether EJ can bring Lexie back.

The question is how far he will go to do it.

And if Dr. Rolf truly finds a way to create another successful serum, Salem could be preparing for a third Lexie Carver resurrection—one that may finally expose just how dangerous EJ’s obsession has become.

Because when someone refuses to let the dead stay dead, the real nightmare may only be beginning.
