Beyond the Gates Shocker: Joey Now Knows Who The Impaler Is… and So Do We!

For months now, a mysterious person known only as The Impaler has been turning life Beyond the Gates upside down. The search for him drove Jacob to take on an undercover assignment which necessitated a months-long separation from his wife. Both Ashley’s most recent beau, Grayson, and her ex, Derek, were caught up in plasma ring’s machinations, leaving the latter dead following a shootout.

Even as Jacob was being praised for his efforts, The Impaler remained at large… and our suspect list underwent a few modifications. Garland Memorial Chief of Staff Lia Whitmore was a front-runner until she proved, like Grayson, to be just another lackey.

But we knew the big reveal was coming when Randy called Joey to say that The Impaler wanted to take a face-to-face meeting. Joey has made it clear he doesn’t want this mess to splash over onto his doorstep. But with the newly-opened clinic a target of the plasma ring and Joey being a major investor, that seemed nearly impossible.

For a hot second, we wondered if perhaps one of the Genoa City big wigs who will be crossing over from The Young and the Restless might turn out to be The Impaler, but that seemed about as likely as the show revealing that mild-mannered Ashley was the kingpin. (What a twist that would have been!)

Instead, we now know that  the person who has been pulling the strings is none other than Joey’s little sister, Heather, played by none other than soap vet Ashley Jones (ex-Bridget, Bold & Beautiful).

The seeds definitely were planted for this twist a while back. Fans will recall that not long ago, Vanessa thought it might be a great idea to track down Joey’s sibling. Upon finding out, well, let’s just say he didn’t take the news terribly well. All of which left us to suspecting that he might not be the only member of his family to live life on the dark side!

Now we know it’s true. Apparently, crime is a major draw to both of the siblings!
