Todd had blackmailed Charity and later sexually assaulted her, leaving Charity struggling to cope with the consequences.

Serena eventually came to the village to reconnect with her cousin Robert and began staying at Butler’s Farm with Robert and Aaron. She appeared willing to help around the farm and at the Woolpack, presenting herself as someone who wanted a fresh start. However, viewers have already seen signs that there is much more to Serena’s story.

She has repeatedly appeared around Home Farm and even stole a USB belonging to Kim Tate. That alone suggested Serena was involved in something she did not want the villagers to discover. Now, following Todd’s death, her behavior has become even more suspicious.

When Sarah confronted Todd during the doctor’s confrontation with Charity, everything spiraled out of control. Sarah had heard enough to realize that Charity was being threatened and tormented. Furious at what she witnessed, Sarah pushed Todd. Todd lost her footing on a rug, fell against the edge of a table and suffered the injury that ultimately killed her.

The tragedy could have been reported as an accident. Instead, Charity and Sarah made a devastating decision. They agreed to create a false version of events in order to protect Sarah.

Serena arrived shortly afterward, and rather than simply walking away, she became involved in their cover-up. She helped Charity and Sarah decide what they should tell the authorities. Even more disturbingly, Serena moved Todd’s lifeless hand against Charity’s arm, creating the impression that Todd had physically attacked her.

Then Serena disappeared before the police arrived.
